996 C4S - Replacement of coolant tank

Yesterday i picked up a new coolant tank for my MY03 C4S from my local OPC with a mind to swap out the original and thus prevent any future leakage due to crack issues. However, I read an article last night that suggested that whilst on some 996 models this can be done without having to drop the engine off its mounts, that the C4 cars ( and Cab's ) require the engine lowering slightly. Has anyone attempted this on a C4S ? If i do need to lower the engine it's off to my specialist.....

I did this on my C4S.

Yes you you will have to drop the engine and even then it is tight!

No specialist tools required. Trolley jack (to support the engine), socket set, pliers, more coolant.

Getting the old tank out is a real pain, it just doesn't feel like it will ever disconnect from the retaining bracket and then it's like some Chinese puzzle working out the angle to pull it out. It went back in a little easier.

That is the hardest part. Removing the pipework, emissions pump and dropping the engine down (a fraction) are all simple.
