Clubsport - I'm not totally clueless though, I've got you thinking and talking about me already!
I should think I probably know a little bit more than you think I know, but anyway what I don't know I will always endeavour to find out (hopefully in a civilised, friendly and organised manner). We can't all know everything, now can we?
Anyway, as
Mike (thank you sir) very kindly mentioned I am genuinely interested in a 993RS. It seems I should not keep my options open but that I need to make a spec to be taken seriously, so pref. RHD, original Speedlines, Recaro buckets etc, upto 60k mls, FSH and provenance. I'm really not fussed on colour - A/C - spoiler pack (as long as original can be big or small).
Gentlemen, I would be interested to receive any genuine replies or information and apologise in advance that I have had to make this post by way of my first introduction .
Thank you
'Clueless'

Mike, do you think so?
I got the impression the guy was a bit clueless from his responses, no idea about the cars, specs or prices......maybe your right...he could be the perfect buyer? [

Hi C2CKL,
You will find that it is generally a friendly crowd in what I suppose is an RS community. Quite a few of us have helped people find cars, which they been more than happy with.
The reason I inferred clueless, which when reading it back may appear harsh, is that to go on to PH to say show me RS cars when nobody knows who you are and you are not in an immediate position to pull the trigger may not get you that much information on the best cars available.
Good that you have now come over to here as (from experience) there as there are more than enough RS dreamers and time wasters on PH.
Things have changed in recent years with these cars, there are constant requests for pics and info on specifics from those making Rs replicas and we have had people come on requesting information about cars who turn out to be dealers looking to sell on RS cars they have picked up with their newly found expertise!
The other thing with these cars is that private sale to dealer pricings can be reasonably wide, as they are rare they are often priced on the basis of, "well find another one", so you will be effectively in competition with the handful of dealers who sell these cars. Often sellers are happy to let the dealers sell, to avoid the hassle of responding to wanted ads etc.
Buying a decent car at a decent price is nothing like buying a newer Porsche, you may luck out, but you generally need to put the effort in to get the right car at the right time.
In recent memory some of the better cars have changed hands between members although some of the dealers do offer well prepared cars with comprehensive back up, obviously at a price.
Most people, have an ideal spec in mind when they are spending a sizeable sum of money and the difference between the cheaper end and upper of end of 993RS car prices can be considerable, that is why it is a reasonable idea to give an idea about your spec...which you now have.
There are a few cars "potentially" for sale at the moment, mostly among members who occasionally post here, I am sure they will let you know, but the cars that spring to mind are Lhd.
The car Vic mentions (if it is the one I think it is) is a great example, I came close to buying a similar low miles silver rhd, member provenance car, but the spec was just too good for my intended use.
The Recaros buckets do come up from time to time, they can be picked up secondhand when available for £1500-2000, like everything else that only seems to be going one way, but don't let the seats put you off, if you find a comfort spec car in great condition, it would be a shame to miss out for the sake of £2k.
The speedlines (secondhand), in very good refurbed condition they are roughly £3-4k, allow approx £1k for decent refurb if required.
A car may appear instantly, but more than likely may take a while,I sold one RS and it took 5 months to find the next, it seemed an eternity, but there were more cars around then in the Uk. The recent weakness with the £ has seen relative price rises, where Lhd cars go back to Europe and Rhd seem to go to HK.
Keep in touch with the progress of your search and I am sure people will give you the heads up on suitable cars, Good luck.
