993 dashboard screeching noise

I have recently come back to Porsche with a varioram 1995 993. A step forward from my previous SC and 3.2 but the noise it has just started making is driving me mad. At exactly 60mph a screech is emitted from the dash just above the CD unit. It stays constant until about a 100 where it seems to diminish slightly, but on slowing down the volume increases until at 60 it suddenly goes quiet again. I have resealed the windscreen rubber trim and tried taping up the exterior air ducts.
(thinking there may be a leaf or a loose part being vibrated by the air)The noise is similar to a blower motor with a dry bearing but adjusting the a/c and air fan controls has no effect either. Any ideas ?
Thanks

Have you tried the pollen filter which can rub against the fan and make a pretty awful noise. Accessible from inside the luggage compartment high up under the windscreen.

Thanks Maurice. I'm puzzled by the noise being related to speed. I suppose the only way to find it is to take the shields off under the luggage compartment.
