Can someone tell me if the 933 16" wheels front 7x16 ET53 and rear 9x 16 ET70 will fit an S2?

I had those on my s2 until earlier this year.

I liked them actually and was also surprised how light the rims are with the tyres removed. I think these wheels could look really good in a darker colour on a red or lightly coloured car.

Tyres 205/55/16 (from memory) front, rears are 245/50/16. Need to verify the front size but the rears are accurate as I reused the tyres.

Hi Copperman

I bought a set of those for my S2, the front wheels fit straight on, but look better with 7mm schims, the rears will need 18mm spacers. As they don't fill the rears wheelarches as well as D90's. If your car has been lower, they look a lot better. This is only my own personal opinion.

Funny you say that as thats pretty much what I plan to do, get refurbed in matt black and put on my light coloured S2. RPM had a track focused 944 S2 with these wheels in gloss black and they looked great. Makes a changes from the 'normal' cup 1 & 2's IMO, and perhaps one of the few wheels that still looks right on a 944.

Agreed, but road S2s are over-tyred at the rear from the factory. If you dont drive the car hard then youre unlikely to notice, but if you do I suppose that itll push dreadfully.

What do you mean by over-tyred? I thought 245/50/16 were pretty normal tyres for these cars and not that much bigger than the standard 225's. Or is it the combo of 205's front and 245's rear that cause issues? RPM had these wheels on a track car which I assume wasnt just for looks.

Not tried too many different tyres so appreciate feedback from others.

Thanks
Edd

For 944S2s, the wider rear wheels were purely cosmetic - you dont need a wider wheel and tyre to transmit the power, theyre simply there because they look smart.

When you fit 9" wheels from the rear of a 911 (which needs staggered wheel sizes, principally to avoid over-tyring the front) you end up with too much grip at the back, which can become evident if youre driving quickly. This will manifest itself as understeer.

Its not a problem unique to these wheels though and most people with 911 wheels will have too much rear tyre, and some will not have enough front...

Id suggest a conservate rear tyre size, when the existing tyres wear out (225/50/16s for example, and all round if you can get 82 replacements for the front)

Will 225/50/16 tyres fit on a 9" wheel? I had assumed they wouldnt. 82 replacements? Sorry not sure what u mean.

Edd

8", sorry. Yes 225 tyres will fit on a nine inch rim. They may be a little stretched depending on the manufacturer, but thats not a bad thing.

Sorry Edd, I dont know. I can offer an anecdotal opinion though - I bought my 993 Winter Cups off a fellow who had a 928S4 (M030 used S4 medium blacks) and he told me that he was selling them only because he found a set of GTS wheels, after hed refurbed them. If this is true then theyll fit, but itd be better if you could trial fit them, of course.

I realise this is not particularly relevant to how the thread has developed, but those don't look to me like 993 wheels...

They are unloved in the 993 community I believe but they definitely carry 993 part numbers (or at least the set I had did!).
