992 Turbo S must have specs?

Looking at the configurator, the Turbo S has a lot of stuff standard -

- 18 way seats with lumbar, bolsters etc
- Heated seats
- PCCBs
- PASM
- PTV plus
- PDLS plus
- Sports chrono
- Bose speakers

I’m on the market for a second hand 992 Turbo S and my question is: Is there any specific spec items that I should definitely try to get?

Would also be great to know of anything that I should watch out for when shopping around for these, although my past experience has been quite good so far!

Buy what you want / need not what the next person might want...

When a salesman tells me it needs x or y... i ask why doesnt the manufacturer fit it as standard then?

Yeah, asking less for the next person and more in case the salesman tries to push something hard, I’d like to know if it’s all bs or not .

Also just digging into this more, the configurator says that PASM is standard, but then it also allows me to add on PASM for another 1000ish quid

PASM is standard but PASM -10mm (ie lowered) is an extra. Unnecessary in my book.
Ditto front lift - nice to have but not really needed.
RWS is standard and excellent.
Burmester rather than Bose, again not a deal breaker.
Everything else is cosmetic really - carbon, leather colours, contrasting stitching, coloured belts, tinted lights, all personal taste.
Wheels, body colour and painted skirts etc all personal too.
I'd avoid lane change assist and InnoDrive but I'm a Luddite.

PASM + is £1,211 from the factory and includes sports suspension and 10mm lower ride height.

In my experience, the standard set up is plenty stiff enough and, if it's lowered, you will also need front axle lift (£1,965).

Ahh thank for clarifying the PASM situation. Now I’m curious if it affects the ride comfort and weight having it lowered (and then adding lift)!? But to be honest I wouldn’t be able to tell with my driving abilities

In general it does sound like there aren’t many must have options given it’s already well loaded.

Mine has the PASM+ (which should be PASM- really!) and lift. TBH it doesn't need the lift as the front spoiler is pneumatic and only inflates at speed, so is not susceptible to catching road humps etc, unlike the GT3.

It's a difficult one, this. As standard, the Turbo S comes with everything that you need in this (or any) car and more...but saying that when I ordered mine from new the options list just softly called out to me, like some siren beckoning me onto the rocks of bankruptcy.
I could, of course, live without the options that I have on the car (Burmeister, FAL, SPASM, Vented seats, aero kit, Porsche crest on headrests etc etc) but I do like them and am not disappointed in the choices I made (particularly as this one is probably going to be a keeper).
The other thing to weigh up when buying second hand is how much the extras are costing. It can be the case that the extras are the largest factor in depreciation from new, so whilst a heavily optioned car may be more expensive than a 'lighter' alternative, it may be arguably a better deal...or is that that pesky siren again...

Looking at the advert on AutoTrader it seems that it's only just gone on sale and the dealer has decided to price it where he sees the market currently is.

A lot of the similar cars being advertised have been for sale for a while and have had their prices gradually reduced over time.

The '5 owner' thing may have a bearing on the asking price but shouldn't put you off. If you like the car you may need to jump in quickly. If it's the cheapest around it may not be available for long.

That definitely didn’t stick around.

On another note im writing down the options I think would suit my use of the car:

Must haves (as in, wait until I find one with these):
- turbo S exclusive design wheels
- glass roof
- sports exhaust


Nice to haves:
- heated steering wheel
- lane change assist
- parking assist
- adaptive cruise
- burmester
- lift


Ignore all above if car has cognac heritage interior pack LOL

As you should be spending a lot of time in the car then extended leather options would be what I'd focus on next time personally and Burmester (but not a deal breaker). I'd also recommend spending the money on a full PPF package to keep the bodywork in prime condition for longer.

Sports Exhaust is in, my opinion, a complete waste of money on a Turbo S, mine has the standard quad pipes which are unique to the Turbo S whereas the SE adds exactly the same rear profile as the SE on 911 Carrera with 2 large diameter tubes that sit in front of the actual exhaust pipes, the gain in extra noise is marginal. Personal preference but I would spend the money on other extras that are more noticeable inside the car where you will be like the leather options. My 992 Turbo S was preceded by a 992 GT3, now that had an absolutely epic sounding exhaust but I traded that for a more comfortable drive.
