992 911 Carrera 2

I've had Macans as loaners a couple of times whilst the 911 is in for service, and yep Jon, they're still beautiful vehicles which are a pleasure to be in. Even in my mid-40s I can appreciate all their plus points. Prising my parents out of the 911 – they're a little older than yourself – never looks especially enjoyable for them I must admit :ROFLMAO:

I'm having a serious rethink about the Macan/911 decision... I currently have a basic Carrera on a 24hr test drive and, by a huge margin, it's the most exciting car I've ever driven plus, for such an exotic vehicle, it's surprisingly practical and I'm pretty sure I could live with it as my only car.

However, I've just been out on my local twisty unlit roads in the dark and, other than going into the screen menu, I can't see any way of quickly dimming the instrument lighting. Easy enough to switch off the main sat-nav screen but that leaves the main instrument cluster. I entered the main menu, selected brightness but the difference between -5 and +5 is negligible. This may sound trivial to many but it's a very important issue to me and it's such a shame as I was completely sold on the car until it got dark.

It might be back to the Macan with it's good old-fashioned analogue buttons...
