The latest generation "˜991' series Porsche 911 has already been revealed, but so far only the base Carrera models.
The one we're most interested in is the legendary 911 Turbo, which should arrive roughly one year after the new 911 range makes its debut, coming once again in both coupe and convertible bodystyles.
While prototypes for the new 911 Turbo hard-top have been spotted for more than a year now, this is the first time that we're seeing a prototype for the 911 Turbo Cabriolet.
Expected to be launched late next year alongside its hard-top sibling, the new 911 Turbo Cabriolet should come onto the market as a 2013 model complete with a twin-turbocharged flat-six engine, wide rear haunches, additional cooling vents all around, and a new active rear spoiler.
Expect output from the engine to rise slightly above the 530 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque of the current Turbo S model, though emissions and fuel consumption should be lower.
An uprated "˜PDK-S' dual clutch transmission may also feature. This new "˜box is expected to debut in the next-generation 911 GT3 though we may see it earlier in the new 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo Cabriolet. A conventional manual will still be offered but according to recent reports it will feature seven forward gears instead of the usual six.
The regular 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera Cabriolet are scheduled to debut at this September's 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show, putting the 911 Turbo's debut most likely at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show next March.
