Fastest time in class (Run What you Brung).
When I was at Porsche Silverstone their instructors confirmed that it really can be used for ever, only caveat was do not use it unless oil and water temperatures at optimum.
Just hang on!!
Cheers
I think not, unless you are on a very wide runway!tscaptain said:Best with the PSM turned off.....[]
I need all the help I can get.

Thanks Alan I would love to try it.tscaptain said:It only does a little squirm. Stops it getting bogged down if the wheels want to spin. The times they quote are with PSM off, I believe.
Unfortunately our local authorities have deemed it necessary to run our sprints on a two lane road with a mild double bend half way along so we cannot compare times factory times. If it was straight I might be tempted to turn the PSM off. As it is the car is so quick I have to back off at the bend (once I had to brake!) which ruins the balance.
Bit like reducing full power at 500 feet due to noise abatement.
Unfortunately our track days are all rolling starts out of the pit lane.
Cheers

Except at Goodwood...

That's also what I was told at Silverstone. In fact they added that they stripped an engine down after 3000+ 'launch control' starts and there was absolutely no sign of wear or pending trouble either. Try that in a Ferrari!

Perhaps more of a test of the PDK gearbox

I must add Goodwood to our list, but looks a bit close to the stand and the marshal. We have to be let onto the track by a marshal and lights as above but the speed limit has to be observed until you leave the pit lane and get to the track. At Le Mans you would be binned immediately using launch control from there and the whole track is under observation by cameras.
I would be more worried about the marshal, brave man!tscaptain said:Hmmm.... wouldn't do it PSM off that close to the wall![]

For those that feel they don't use launch control enough. Here are some practical every day suggestions for use.
