987 - Removing Mirror Covers?

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for some assistance on how to remove the mirror covers on my 05 987 Boxster. I need to get them painted as I've got scratches on both of them, due to my incompetence in trying to fit the car into a tiny modern garage! Also picked up a nice scratch on one in a car park [:mad:].

So can anyone recommend the best way to remove them before I attempt to tackle this myself?

They aren't the same as the 986, where you can just remove the glass and unscrew the cover. On the 987 you have to take the whole mirror assembly off. If you would like instructions, drop me an email.
 
Chris, you might want to do what I did which was to buy a pair of new covers (they're not very expensive), get them painted (I did mine myself because I know I'm going to repeatedly scrape them. Also it means that I could put the originals away, even though they're scraped), and then get someone to swap them over.

Given that mine's a solid colour I use a touch-up paint stick every now and then.

I got mine done at my OPC - they were very helpful.
