987 hard top - anyone got one?

haven't seen one.....wondering if anyone has one and if so is it worth it/any good?

reason for asking is more that as i live in london i would like to be able to leave my car outside overnight sometimes.....also for the occasional trans-europe winter trip.

Yes, we've had four Boxsters, each with the factory hard top.

Goes on in Nov, comes off in March.

Some people will say they aren't essential, but I like it:
- Gives the car a different look
- Adds some security/protection
- Bit quieter on the m/way
- Apparently, improves rigidity

Needs to be fitted correctly and seals lubed to prevent rattles (but 996/997 cabs suffer more).

No, it sits on a special cradle in the garage with a cover over it.

My mistake.

No, just make sure it is clean and dry before folding and it will be fine when it pops back up after hibernation. In fact, it avoids it being exposed to the worst of the winter elements.

The hard top is nice but it does take two people to remove and put on.
It also takes a fair bit of garage space.

I find with the recent summers that I manage to have the soft top down more in Nov to April than Jun to Sep !

Being a drop top nutter I must agree recent winters have resulted in as many if not more topless days than our fabulous NOT![] summers

There is a very nice alternative to the standard top , that replicates a cayman roof/ tailgate. look up zeintec on the net.http://www.zeintec.com/news
