Hi all, hope someone here can help.
Has anyone upgraded their main/high beam lamps to LED?
Have already upgraded the head lights to LED with big improvements.
Thanks

I'm not so sure that LEDs will improve matters as the light pattern is determined by the reflector shell and lens.

Try some OSRAM nightbreaker lamps

Note this extract from Section 4.1.4 of the Government's MOT inspection manual (downloadable from gov.uk): "Existing halogen headlamp units on vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1986 must not be converted to be used with high intensity discharge (HID) or light emitting diode (LED) bulbs. If such a conversion has been done, you must fail the headlamp for light source and lamp not compatible." So beware!
What isn't clear is what happens if you convert HID to LED.

Brian you are quite correct that it is an MOT fail to convert halogen lights to LED.

However, it is perfectly permissible to convert existing HID lights to LED. Several companies supply LED bulbs specifically as HID replacements.

Brian, that's very interesting. I replaced my horrid orange halogen dip beam bulbs last year to great effect and sailed through my MOT in January. My MOT station are obviously not aware of this new rule, thankfully.
I have also tried to fit LED high beam bulbs but could only find Auxito ones on EBay that fitted but unfortunately they aren't bright enough and give bulb failed warnings.
Are the Osram Nightbreakers any good, or has aanyone successfully found LEDs that fit a 987.2?

Thanks
Paul
