At 92k miles and the current sun, my screen looks as if the grit blaster has hit it.
Visibility is compromised.
Any thoughts on changing it?
Any pit falls? Radio aerials etc?
Any preferred suppliers and fitters?

My 70k 981 isn't too bad but (the bonnet is worse) my 47k Macan, however, is annoyingly bad with fine scratches too that dont match any obvious potential cause! Got a big stone chip a couple of months ago and was almost sad it was "repairable".
I have seen, in Porsche Post(?) that there's a PPF style windscreen protector available now. I'd be up for that as my previous Macan was bad too, none of my pre-Porsche cars suffered similarly. 😞

St Gobain original suppliers - most windscreen firms offer Pilkington - have heard of issue with fit - but i suspect its the fitting rather than the screen, make sure it has the right spec - top tint, fm antenna (in screen), rain sensor (if you have rainsensor wipers) - the seal seems to be a challenge - rather than using porsche parts the main stream windscreen fitters use generic stuff they have spools of

best advice I was given was take it to a depot, rather than using mobile, and make sure you are happy with the screen before they start, also - take pictures of your wiper sweep, the fit of the current one (edges, corners, side profile etc) your interior lights working, your radio and if you have it gps working (gps antenna isn't in the screen - but they have to disconnect it to replace the screen and it often gets missed).

Thanks Paul. Good advice, my screen is also in a bad way. Others in the region have experienced problems with replacement screens from 'specialists'. The advice I have been given is to go to a body repair shop with Porsche experience. This should ensure correct fitting and, importantly, remedial work on any damaged paint or corrosion under the trim/seal.

Depending on severity of peppering can you get the screen fine polished - bodyshop had one of our previous cars done and was pleasantly surprised, as was a vast improvement, though not as good as a new screen.

Had mixed experiences with replacement screens and agree about taking it to depot and let them take their time getting it right.

Improper fit commonly results in wind whistle which only becomes noticeable at speed and can require another new screen.
