987.1 flat battery - can't find earth for hood boost

Update - I sheepishly called my local Porsche specialist, having previously had a bad experience with them (they left oil stains on my tan carpets after a previous repair). The guy brought along his industrial booster and managed to get some life into it, got the bonnet open and managed to start the car.

Sooo relieved.

Thank you to everyone who gave up their time to reply to this *thumbs up*

What did he use for the earth point ?

brilliant job by yr OPC then. đź‘Ź

just interested, had you already tried jump leads (from another car with engine running)to the fuse?

As posted earlier, that worked a treat on my 987

I may need to get some help on this. My steering wheel lock is on and I can't unlock it to turn the wheels to get access to the lining.

Side question - will I need my locking wheel nut bolt to get the wheel off? Where is this located?
Glad to hear you had a good outcome ..you question is relevant as most locking wheel nuts are kept in the front compartment, so no chance of getting the wheel off. Perhaps may be a good idea to keep it in the clove box or middle compartment

Been away for the weekend (not in Boxster).

The guy who eventually sorted it used the door latch as earth. He was rather forceful with it tbh, more than I was happy with as one slip and he might have scratch my paintwork around the door. I knew something was happening because the key came out of the barrel ok and indicators started to slowly flash, then bonnet popped and as soon as he got access to the battery and got the boost on it the alarm sounded.

I have no idea why the things I tried didn't;t work. I got absolutely no signs any current was getting through to the relays.

I'll take advice and condition the battery whoever I can. The car is not garaged so I'll have to choose days when it's going to be dry. And I'll drive it more often...

Can you try one off those solar panels it may just give you the boost to keep battery toped up, also there is a tool think it is in the fuse compartment where if your key is stuck in the barrel, you can release it with.
