982 Maintenance requirements ?

Hi Guys, Planning to upgrade 981 next year and during recent visit to OPC was informed, that for low mileage usage Porsche now requires an oil change each year which at current figures cost a whopping £570 !!! When I mentioned the 2year service interval, I was told the car indicates when the oil change is due. Just wonder if this is a fact ?
Thanks
Adrian.

Utter rubbish.
My 718 4.0 clearly states 2 years or 20k.
Have a look at the maintenance book it shows the service required.

The first PDF is for B markets with lower fuel grades.

The UK is in market A.
Interesting, I've always wondered but never been able to get further than this on the bottom of each page: "* For country allocation, see overview of A, B and C markets". Never been able to find that. I've always concluded that because UK country code in Porsche terms is C16 that we are probably C market. And although going off-topic (sorry) if you happen to have the 981 schedule for A markets that would really be appreciated too!

Is this what you`re after Brian ... ?

Thanks Andrew, I already have that one which came out when Porsche was offering fixed price servicing. The schedule looks pretty generic in market terms and aligns with that in the service book for my 2013 981. The similar book for my 2016 981 has no schedule in it at all - just a repeated series of tick boxes for the OPC to tick what they have done, nothing to say what they should be doing. Not sure if the 982 suffers this issue too or whether my service book was lost and replaced with a generic one. I've previously noted some variation in the downloadable versions of the maintenance schedules that all seem to originate from Porsche - eg the US for the 981 Boxster (attachment helpfully included by Dan above) includes "check firewall body drains for debris" for both front and rear luggage compartments - nothing about that in your attached version although an experienced OPC technician told me that was covered in the 2-year body checks. I've never seen anything official about annual oil changes though lots of owners choose to do that anyway. And I'd still like to know which countries are in A, B and C markets, just out of curiosity!

Here you go Brian. Found it.

The display on the right instrument cluster will tell you the answer. My 718s tells me it's every two years or 20K. This counts down over the miles/months usage and then will indicate when the next service is due. Same as my previous 981.

I had read of some Macan owners having oil change notifications outside of the original specified pattern as well, it seems the car will compute the required intervals, related to usage perhaps?

Peter,

I think that the Macan - and maybe some other Porsches? - has a sensor which measures oil viscosity which is used to flag-up when an oil service is due, but I’m not aware that the 982-series cars have this feature.

I see quite a few Porsches and Astons in our station car park round here (Herts) I guess if you are shuffling a few miles there and back to the station or work I would be wanting an annual change...(if it was mine and intending to keep the car for a while, that is...)

Amazing, my curiosity is satisfied! Many thanks Dan. My manipulation of Google over a long period never came up with this. Congratulations.

Interesting Graham, the count down clock for servicing must be on the late 981’s as my 14 plate has no such indication. Having read the PDF info I realise the models mentioned all have Turbo engines, which might be where the annual oil change requirement comes from for low mileage ?? As I am looking at a 4.0 hopefully that won’t apply.
Thanks for the info.

Not sure this is true. My 981 was on a "12" plate and showed servicing intervals in the instrument cluster and likewise my 718s (turbo) also shows the servicing intervals. Why not try clicking through the menus and see if you can find it?

Both my old 12 reg 981Boxster 2.7 and my current 2015 Boxster gts had dashboard views of the 2 year servicing countdown.
For a few days now l have a brand new Cayman gts 4.0 courtesy/demonstrator and have just checked and it has the dashboard countdown which shows next oil change/ service at 7/2025 or 19600 miles.
