Hi all

The alarm siren on my 2013 981s has stopped working, the part ref is PAB 951-605, I believe these are a pretty standard siren and are used in lots of VW, Audi's etc. Price from Porsche is circa £500, anyone have any idea if I can use an OEM part, If so where is the best place and model to use... Thanks Adam.

That's the link i was going to say look for from BAZ over on BOXSTA NET very helpful with a few tips on looking after your 981 .

Thanks all for these postings.

The indicators were flashing intermittently after I'd locked my Boxster 981, and occasionally accompanied by the alarm. Thought it was low voltage on the battery and took it on a very long drive to charge it. The fault still happened. After searching online and in the forum I whittled it down to the siren/ sensor, so I disconnected it (simple job with a Torx screwdriver) and the problem stopped. The old one showed signs of something leaking out of the bottom of it (though I couldn't get it open to see if it was the internal battery).

Got a new VW replacement part for £200 - didn't want to risk a second hand one failing again. A Porsche one is now about £260. The original part number was 1K 8951 605B, the replacement was 1K 0951 605F. It's been 1 week since reinstalling and all seems well. The new unit seems to have a much better seal around it than the older original.

Cheers
