I have a 981 GT4, which I use for weekend drives and track days. Last year the Cup2s were fine as I only used on dry days really, or on track. Have since moved from Oxfordshire to Perthshire, and I will do far less track days, though still 5 or 6 i'd expect, and much more road use. Reality is, the weather is not so good up here - it's several degrees colder on average, and it rains on more days.
Therefore I would like to run two sets of wheels - one with Cup2s for track and the proper summer weather, and PS4S the rest of the year. Problem is that I'm struggling to find a set of spare wheels. A new set of OEM GT4 wheels is around £4600 from my OPC (and they would come with Pirellis). There's one set of used wheels on Ebay, priced ambitiously at £4200.
Looking aftermarket I quite like the HRE FF01 wheels, but they're £3200 before you add tyres, so not that much cheaper than the OEM option, and probably much harder to sell for a decent price if I sell the car in a few years.
So, looking for any other ideas anyone has?
The best part of £5k is a lot to tie up in a spare set of wheels, so I could just switch to PS4S for year round use I suppose, but concerned they'd just melt come track days, but interested to hear from anyone who does just that and how they found the car on these tyres on track.
