Attended the Hatfield canape and champers bun-fest yesterday evening.

There were 3 highly-specced PDK cars on show - red/black, grey/light grey and mahogany/light grey - which was a total surprise. They should have had a white, silver or yellow car for max effect. The mahogany car's sticker price was just under £71.5k..!

The car looked really good in the flesh but I'm looking forward to seeing it in daylight rather than under artificial light. The interior was familiar 981 and the cabin update is good generally but I'm still not convinced by the centre console arrangement - that array of buttons between the screen and gearlever/selector is very messy and unergonomic too.

Took some pics but no time to faff around posting them now.

I'm going to the launch party at OPC Notts next Thursday night, so it will be interesting to see if it's the same collection of cars doing a "UK tour". I agree with you about the buttons between the screen and the gearshift - very fiddly and awkward. I thought the same when I saw the new 911 at the launch party last December. Overall, the new interiors look great. It's a shame that small details like that seem to have made it through the quality/testing process.
 
Also at the Hatfield fest last night .absolutely loved the mahogany metallic cayman at £71k!!!! Canapés disappointing though I felt!!! Not sure about the smaller rear boot space than my old cayman though I must say overall it looked very nice [:)] Interestingly though Linda has always said her favourite of our past Porsches was the cayman s ,and on the way home she said she wanted me to get a 991 next !!!
 
I'm attending the West London event tonight and really looking forward to it - will any other members be there? I will most certainly be booking a test drive!
 
Sheffield tonight for me, test drive already booked just waiting for the date.
 
Yes, there was a 917, an '83 962 Rothmans car and a Vic Elford 907(?) langheck (very long..!). Interesting contrast to the modern metal. Jeff

Much nicer than a mahogany metallic aka 'grit' brown cayman !

I am at Chester next Wednesday for there launch night. They have asked for my Cayman R to be on display. Should be a good night. Alun

Um, pink carnation in the buttonhole? ...Maybe not! I'll have a reddish-black shirt on, and black trousers. I'm not exactly tall... [&o] Not sure what else I can give as to clues.

They are having the car all day to get it looking good. They have valeted the car before at OPC Chester and always do a great job.
 
I went to the Sheffield launch tonight, they had a Brown Cayman S, light beige full leather interior, Agate Grey Cayman S with two tone grey leather interior which was very nice and a Guards Red Cayman with black interior which was definitely not leather which let it down a lot in my book all were on 20" wheels and the paint looked good on the grey and red cars, the brown looked purple from some angles due to the coloured lights. Maybe a selling point as what witness's could be believed?[:D][:D] Overall it's a nice car, as we expect from Porsche. Several owner's cars were on show in the workshop and mine was on show outside which meant I could drive it home this evening after the event closed. They had it for a couple of days, it's been valeted to a high standard in spite of the stone chips and looks terrific. The whole evening was very well presented and enjoyable. There was a 917 in the workshop area along with gen1 & 2 Caymans, 991, Cayenne and Panamera, 981 Boxster and a drop head 911. For once it was even a nice drive home, dry and an almost empty motorway[:D] My Cayman S is also a much nicer drive than the Audi Avante I was loaned which although it was new last weekend just didn't fill the bill for me. I'm now looking forward to a test drive.

Mark, I had left before seeing your post. Sorry we didn't meet up. All of those I spoke to said the white car looked the best colour. That was good to hear having chosen white, except i hated those 19 in S wheels, pleased I went for the 20 in Carrera S s. I don't like the rear diffuser design, it looks like something off an Audi TT, could be that rear bumper looks so huge. At least the parking sensors are built into the diffuser now. Chris
 
I thought the rear door pockets were rather useless as they are open but I couldn't get my hand in when sat in the driving seat, some have criticised the switches forward of the gear shift which I didn't think too bad apart from the fact they were so close together it may be difficult to hit the right one! Overall I thought the New Cayman very nice but I'm glad I still like mine and am not desperate to change.
 
Didn't like the 'chrome' trim around the driving lamps nor the smaller lower rear boot.
 
I attended the Cambridge launch this Tuesday. Again had three cars, Agate Grey with two tone grey leather, Mahogany (that I hardly looked at, sorry!) and a stunning white one with black leather. That had the dark coloured 20" wheels though which I guess are essential (if pricey) to go with that colour. A good fun evening all in all. Agate Grey still my 1st choice colour (though white still tempts) but need to see the Grey in daylight, not the 'disco' lights at the launch.
