No idea of a guide price but if your contact has access to Manheim auctions then I believe they will advise the reserve price - if one exists. The auctioneers might also be able to offer a few more bits of info like service history if the vendor has provided it. I wonder if it has a significant fault like pinion bearing probs or a sick engine, it won't be the first time that someone has tried to offload a problem car at auction - beware.
If my hunch is correct there are very few dealers around who would be interested in buying such a car at auction, so if you know what you are doing there is a chance of a relative bargain.
NB If no one from here goes for it then my 'auction friend' should be able to tell me what it fetched -- I am intrigued to find out.
Alex -- yes I saw that one as well, nice time of year for a quick trip to Spain !

5 previous owners.
up for sale from a dealer, probably a trade in.
full PSH but last service done Oct 2002!
MOT to Feb 2004 (only)
some superficial scuffing damage to rear bumper, needs a respray
no reserve yet, although one might be applied
I forgot to ask if it was RHD and do not know if it has LSD or any MO30 bits - whoops
reg no is: M498TUK
is anyone going after this one? if you are desperately keen and cannot get access to the auction, then e-mail me off the forum, my 'auction friend' might be prepared to help you.
NB It is in the 10:30 auction and is the 9th car -- so you would need to get up early for this one.
bye

I am told this car went for between 11 & 11.5k
Wow, that's a strong price at auction. Of course if it was a good car, that will now easily retail at £15k (or more at Malton!)
This is of course a double edged sword. Bad news for buyers, but encouraging for us owners that the prices are staying firm.

I didn't recognise the guy that bought the car, but he was kind enough to lock the passenger door after he had looked inside the car in an attempt to prevent me or anyone else looking. Nice guy ![:'(]

Why not call them and see what they'd offer for your MG as a trade in, just to see.
Nice sounding car, decent mileage and Porsche history.

truly excellent detective work to find it.
be patient though, a good deal will come along I am sure.
ps I did call the guy selling the CS on 968uk.com in the Birmingham area for £10.750, it is still available and is a 130k miler (but is not a full MO30 as advertised). Might be worth a visit as you are not far away- if cared for would be no less reliable than this 70k car (has some good service history). Also based on the tone of his voice, he is keen to sell and is open to offers as he wants the money for another project, though buyer beware as usual.

My thoughts on this were too many miles and the guy isn't an enthusiast. Its supposedly company maintained so its been a workhorse rather than a cherished possession.
Also I don't like white ones [
Don't worry, I've got quite a portfolio of options now once the ZS has gone.
A 968 will be mine [8D]

and the best colour to boot[]
Go on Mike give them a call, you need to take the plunge, I know if i were you i'd be frustrated as hell by now just talking aboot it[]
Well, no PX they want an outright purchase at full price, not willing to negotiate as they reckon they've had loads of interest already. I'll be interesting to see if they've still got it in a few week time[
Had a chat with my MGR dealer today and they will buy my car back but its a bit of a big hit against current market values, so it'll be a last resort.
Oh well lets hope the phone rings tomorrow

Hmm, maybe prices are bottoming out. I'd lose about 4k if I sold mine today (owned 18 months) but I have a sneaking suspicion these cars are going to level out pretty soon. Good luck Mike, get one before they start going up [
