968 castor mounts

Ron,

I spend so much time on the naughty step I feel quite at home there. I sometimes wonder whether I should keep a packet of biscuits and a good book there, to while away the long hours ... []

Why should I go there this time, out of interest?

Oli.

Guys, is there any benefit fitting these to my 21 year old S2?

Ooooohhhh yes!

1) Your old mounts are 21 years old

2) Even replacing them with the same type OEM would be better..................but

3) .............change them for 968 ones and the reduction in movement is noticeably better

Hi Oli,
for (beware tho' it will no longer be standard)
Suggest War and Peace might be a good choice- and plenty of biscuits.[:D][:D][:D].
cheers
Ron

If you don't want to go for anything too radical like the Aluminium mounts above, go for the Hartech castor mounts. Same design as the OEM items, only the rubber covers the entire circumference of the bush and they're half the price of the OEM mounts.

Ronald,

Complete works of LJK Setright would be more my mark, but they are possibly a bit lengthier! And it wasn't even that much naughtiness!

Olli. Usual standards being maintained, clearly. Those look lovely.

My friend finished machine work during weekend. He will have those anoidzed during this week. Colors available are red, blue, black, natural (transparent) and titanium. He said to me this first batch is 150€ if 5 sets are ordered. Later his retail price will be over 200€. PM me if you guys are interested. We will have thes both my own 951 and my son's project 951.

Few pictures of unfinished blocks and his new "semi-solid" transmission mount.

dem dere partz shlook mitey guud................. am drooling a bit as I type!

ps don't forget the usaul plug for Hartech on the caster mounts, they do a good value clone of the Porsche one.

Swedes have bought almost all of these caster blocks from my friend. If you are interested, still few pairs available.

Get the Hartech bushes. I think they're made by the same manufacturer as the OEM bushes, but are half the price.

968 castor mounts arnt that expensive are they? I would buy a known brand like those available from Hartech or Promax if you dont want OEM, rather than risk cheap ebay stuff, often turns out to be a false economy...

Colin I think I paid £92 delivered for 2 OEM ones from Porsche-a-part about 2 years back. I think he still has them on e-bay. They were definitely OEM quality. The cheaper e-bay ones are nonsense. Al got some a while back and they don't even have rubber all the way round. [&:]
