968 Ball joint

Hi All.

Question time, Again!

Having had my 968 Cab on the hoist I find I need a balljoint N/S. The Porsche shop on Ebay have a balljoint repair kit at approx. £85 and looks comprehensive. Has anyone done this??

The option is £280 for a control arm so could be quite a saving. Help!

I have just had a new pair of Hartech exchange control arms fitted (plus a load of other suspension parts too) by Centre Gravity (nice people and brilliant work). Don't risk an unknown component. If you intend to keep the car then buy original or refurbished original parts. It pays in the long run and the 968 will feel all the better for it.

Also, if your buget allows, replace the opposite side as well. If one side needs replacing then the other side will very soon. This way you only pay for suspension and geometry set up once.

Good to see the replies.

I genuinely worry about the cost-effectiveness of the repair kits, let alone the safety. They rely on you having the same expertise as Hartech's technicians, and you being in absolutely no doubt that the part is good enough to be refurbed.

To many horror stories for my liking. [&o]
 
Got refunded for kit and ordered Hartech replacement.
As advised i will replace the O/S one next month.

Bought Promax chip. Took ECU out to find.......a promax chip in place.
I have a brand new chip for sale. Bargain £75.00.

Bit like what I found with my cab - gave Project 9 a new Promax chip to fit, found it already had another upgrade chip fitted - with daughterboard!
