964Rs running report

As some of you are aware, I collected my car in Barcelona around 8 weeks ago now. The first step upon returning was to get it MOT'd, passed easily now it had new RHD headlamp lenses, it already had an MPH face on the speedo [been in UK before].
I then took the car to Andy Fearns at AMd in Bicester for a full 24,000 mile service and health check. The car had only done 700km on a fresh engine--new barrel kits, new cyl heads & valves etc before I drove it home, so now it had 2400km on it.
The health check unearthed a few items worn out and a few repaired in a dubious manner.
The LSD was not working so it was rebuilt, the front suspension had incorrect spacers in the top mounts, new ones fitted. I took the car away to use for a bit and have some fun.
It produced at this stage a dissapointing 281 BHP on the dyno

I later dismantled the seats to have them colour coded and took the wheels off for refurb, needless to say these both took longer than planned so I bought a set of slave wheels and hurriedly rebuilt the seats. Wheels are still off but will be ready end of next week.

After Devon 964 weekend [700 miles] the car returned to AMd for part 2 of the work. It had split an air pipe somewhere on the inlet side so it was idling rough and was a little lean. After this was rectified we now had 288 BHP--Getting better.

Andy then installed a Cat Bypass pipe and a new lambda sensor and set about interrogating the chip in the ECU--Problems, in 1994 when the Hot Wire was installed the technician had bonded the chip into the PCB so we cannot remove it for fear of breaking it or other components. Oh well just run it and see says I.
RESULT = 304 BHP at 6259 rpm and 276 Lb ft at 4983 rpm. Quite good I thought.

Next up the rear bumper is off for small repairs and the damaged shark fin is now ready to go back on. If the cage arrives it should be complete to run out to Walton Hall with.

Next instalment soon

OK Allan still waiting.............

OK Des
Not a lot to report except, o/s shark fin now repaired and refitted, rear bumper assy all repairs done, repainted etc and refitted. Aesthetically the car is now shaping up.
I have now also located the correct small lightweight compressor which is now inside the spare whel. RHD headlamp lenses fitted although light quality is poor. Need to fix this.
I removed the overmats as they were bright red and had a few surface marks on them, I will be getting a black set soon. Car looks much better for this mod.
As most of you are aware I have had my wheels repainted although not to everyones taste, I like them.
I have tried fitting a 102mm tail pipe on but this has proved challenging as the one supplied did not have the mating end opened up enough to fit on correctly but this will be resolved soon I am sure.

Next up is the arrival & fitting of my Heigo aluminium half cage a 2nd zymol treatment and a little undercar cleaning, scratch removal etc and to repair once and for all the o/s speaker which was only ever attached to the door card, [heresy I know]

Car is awesome sounding, so much so that I find myself driving like an ar$e just to hear the noise.

Till Sept

You know I would love a Clubsport 964RS but the one I have came available at a price I could easily afford added to which it had a complete top end replacement.

I love the car but for it being "Hooray Henry Red" if a CS in a better colour
[read maritime blue, mint green, polar silver, midnight blue ]becomes available with the correct history at the right price I may just buy it anyway and either retain mine or sell it ?
