I am just wondering if there are any common faults with the 964 RS engine, gearbox and LSD etc that have been a problem with the model or any other areas of the car.

WHAT!!! Surely shome mishtake! What is he selling for?

As to the original question, engines are normally not an issue and the same is true of gearboxes. The LSD plates do wear out, although I am not sure that its very expensive to sort out.

If you are buying Feroz's car, it is certainly well known and well looked after. Depending on who has been servicing it, you can probably get a good idea of what the car is like from the invoices. GT-One and Autofarm usually give fairly detailed reports on the current condition of the car when doing a service.

Treat the M64/03 engine as being virtually the same as the other variants....i.e. what is likely to go wrong on those is equally likely to go wrong on an RS engine, with the exception that the engines were fitted with the later type heads with seal rings and have a lightweight flywheel and standard clutch (except rhd touring had dual mass ) this means the clutch/ flywheel issues don't occur and the engines don't suffer head seal problems in quite the same way(i.e. it's not impossible!!!). Oil leaks , broken dissy belts etc etc are all possible though appear to be less common, possibly through lower mileage and higher maintenance routines that tend to go with using the car on track and catch problems before they start.
Gearbox's are fairly durable but do wear out, syncros can go with higher milage and worn lsd are also common. The shift linkage can also wear causing a sloppy change. Clutch slave cylinders and clutch pedal assy can also create minor bother.
