964 RS Values Again!

Matt's car is still with Peter at Pink Pig.

Low miles, nice colour, Chip Wizards 993 induction kit plus the original bits to put it back to standard, --- at £45k ish ?

Maybe it had a Momo steering wheel but that's easily sorted ...
Why some cars don't make the money can be a bit mystifying. In this case, I think there are enough minor little things which shouldn't put somebody off but which are doing so. The colour is non standard which I think will put a lot of people off. It is tuned to a higher level than most are comfortable with, it has non standard lettering on the side and many are put off by a cage like that. I am personally not suprised this car is sticking a bit.

Agreed on the stickers, the cage and maybe the tuning bit however the colour ( Polar Silver) is standard and is it's original colour. Two European guys have contacted me about this car (my old car) asking for info however neither of them appear to have come close to buying it ( and I spoke very highly of it might I add!). It would appear that you are right Simon.... that this is indeed one of those cars which just seems to stick. Perhaps £45k is just too much however the price is up to Peter as it is his car after all. Who knows?

I honestly think silver on an RS is very unpopular. I could be wrong though.....

Your new one is much nicer anyway Mat[:D]

Matt

Just to correct you on one thing. 1 of the 2 was very serious about the car. (i think you know the 1 i mean) Even paid for a flight to the UK to inspect it. After being constantly messed about, he gave up the fight (and lost the money for his ticket). He is currently still looking for a car!

Regards
Martin

What, and you didnt come on here and announce yourself? :). I thought thats what you did. Lurked for months, waiting, waiting, then once you have a car, post a new thread on how great your new car is!! Then get all the people on forum to tell you the history of the car, as there aint any new 64RSs. [:D] Oh just me then.[&:]

'Fraid I'm not very good at these forum thingys. Here it is tucked up in the garage. Not having owned one of these things before I don't know how good it is, but from limited road time to date it feels great. Ballistically quick, engine sweet all the way to the limiter, stops in a straight line and pins your eyeballs to the windscreen, loads of grip, etc. But I'm sure they are all like that! Anyway, will know more after the Bookatrack weekend at Spa in a couple of weeks.

It is good to see that you have settled in nicely to the 964 RS community h___. For me this forum and it's info ( or just chatting shight![;)]) is as important as the cars and the driving etc. You are definately now one of the crew h____. Will we be seeing you at a trackday soon?

The issue with Matt's old car and Kevin's current car is that neither are what you would call typical RS's' albeit for different reasons. The silver car is heavily modified to good effect with a prominent cage and is therefore race-car like which is no bad thing.

Conversely Kevin's car is so heavily adorned with plush extras that it feels and looks too luxurious to be a true RS at first. However IMO once I got close up and saw the sheer quality and condition I was impressed. I've enjoyed being driven round Croft by both Matt and Kevin (who showed me that spinning can be strangely calm) and both are great cars but neither are much like my mainly standard car (lhd 964RSL) and are therefore more of a limited /specialised sales prospect.

My ten penneth on the road car thing is that these cars are fantastic IF you use them mainly for having fun and not commuting etc, I' ve had mine for ten years and admit that in that time I've learned when to leave it at home but I bought the thing for driving pleasure and nothing else. It has not disappointed and I'm convinced that nearly all standard Porsches would leave me cold. I have driven a 997GT3 on my quiet local roads and it was exxcellent but simply too fast when pressing on. If I'm honest I've had to learn how to get the best out of it and that equates to driving it in bursts of speed where conditions allow but these bursts of speed are when the car comes alive and make the compromises worthwhlie. The butch looks, build quality and solid values are simply a bonus.

The red car at GT Classics - I bought it in January - I suspect Paul still has it on the site to see how many calls he gets.

I'm wrong again ! Welcome to the Forum --- no need to be shy around here !!

First off, welcome.

I used to know the owner who brought the car into the country and it was a well looked after. He was in the trade. I have always considered it to be a good car and have been suprised that it has "stuck" when it has come to market. I think that because of that, you have managed to get yourself a decent, well priced RS. Enjoy!!

[:D] All too easy! I will indeed track the car, although you are more likely to see me with helmet in hand blagging passenger rides first!! The car needs a little engine work before it sees a circuit again, and the bank balance needs some breathing space prior to that.. And I've got my track year pretty much booked in the bathtub this year. I cant make Friday [:'(], despite trying quite hard to have time off work. Would have been perfect! I'm sure you will all have a ball.

It was Alan UKs car and he brought it in from Spain - he's still on pistonheads if you wanted to contact him for any info...
