I have a pair of 964 rs triple blue recaro seats fitted to my 993 rs, does anybody know what the market value currently is?
was thinking of selling to fund a pair of 993 rs seats, the 964 rs seats came with the car, the backs are painted riviera blue & are in good all round condition.

I have just bought a pair of original 964 RS seats for £650 but not the original leather, Southbound can recover with the correct leather used on the original seats for £750 per seat. TS has some seats on his web site at 4900 Euro.

Thanks, I noted the price on Toms site however I feel this is an unrealistic price to sell, cant see anybody paying 4800 euros for used 964 rs recaros ?

They have tended to change hands for more like £1,500 for the pair, though I've not seen any for sale (other than the Schmitz ones) since RS prices started to go stratospheric ! I agree the Schmitz prices seem outrageous, so I would have thought that somewhere around the £2,000 looks more like it.

I would have thought you're looking at minimum £2K+. There was a guy selling a pair on RL last year for a touch more than that and I don't think they hung around for long. Either way I don't think you'll have a problem shifting them.

Thanks for the info, Tom has a pair of recaro seats for sale at 2900, these are virtually brand new with backs painted riviera blue, yet the
964 rs seats are so much more, I can do a deal with tom, my seats plus a carbon engine lid (£500 ) for the grey recaros ?
the grey recaros came out of a 993 rs but unsure if they are the factory originals?

these are my seats, not too sure about the difference between 964 & 993 recaro's are but they are visually different.

I've emailed David Barnes (964RS_DAB) with a link to this thread. He's mentioned he was planning to replace his RS touring seats with some RS Recaros, in the correct triple blue - and his car is maritime too! Any commission on offer? [:D][;)]

and his car is maritime too!

But Steve's is Riviera!

I'm certain I've seen 2 pairs of 964RS seats change hands for under £1500 recently. Definately saw the £650 ones and certain there was another pair under £1k.

If they do not have the Porsche Recaro labels on them saying its a 993RS seat then surely they are just the same as the standard Recaros made at that time?

Toms prices are mental at the best of times....

these are the actual recaros in question, they replaced the comfort seats in this riviera blue 993 rs, imho I think they look right,
the mounts however dont look 993 rs, not sure if I can use my old mounts.

from what I've been told the seat mounts are only transferable to a seat of the same width (unless you are prepared to modify the mounts/runners etc) I think the holes in the 64RS floor are 408mm apart. It is conceivable that a comfort seat is a little wider thus requiring different mounts. You can get these fabricated to look like the OEM mounts....

Another issue would be the hole under the seat to pass the harness buckle through, I dont wish to cut holes
through the moulding, I'm going to check if the triple blue seats were a factory option when new, these match the special wishes triple blue steering wheel that came with the rs new, in that case I think it would be best to
hold onto the seats, btw the 993 rs seat is slightly wider than the 964 rs seat the & 993 rs recaro is the same as the 968 clubsport so i'm reliably informed.

The advice you've been given is what I also understand to be correct Steve. The correct seats should have perforations throughout the leather covering the seat pads; there is no "RECARO" embossed in the head rest area. I switched the seats - I still have them tucked up in storage - out from my car and replaced them with Recaro SPG's which for me are a better fit. Required new mounts etc as SPG is a narrower seat.

On my seats from memory, I think if you pull the squab up there is a kind of laced, sprung base which provides some cushioning. Must be somebody out there with the originals fitted that can give you some exact photos if needed. I can probably arrange photos of mine if nothing is forthcoming.

cheers.

My understanding was the 993RS seat had some form of sprung bottom to it(like Ben says) and the 64RS one doesn't . Don't know what the other differences are though. If you are of slimmer frame i'd guess the 64 seat might be the more comfortable fit.

"the 964 rs seat the & 993 rs recaro is the same as the 968 clubsport so i'm reliably informed."

No they are all different. There is an article somewhere possibly Pelican with all the differences and photos.

The cross on the seatback and the lining of the holes were 2 of the differences. Widths as quoted are different.

Photos worth a million words. I'll post if I find it but probably 964/993 section of above.

I would stick with the ones you have!

Cheers Ben, that's got to be the best option, store my recaros & buy some 993 rs clubsport nomex, these are still available with the porsche logo on the headrests I believe.
