I would hazard a guess that the main difference part no's wise is the Eprom programme. I would doubt there is any difference to the hardware to the standard 964 C2 Motronic box. Place a copy of the RS rom in and you have an RS box. When you connect a hammer the part number is read out. If there is a difference in the hardware i would love to know.

I'm pretty sure you're spot on with this, the only difference being the chip (RS 260bhp, C2/4 250bhp). I have seen some talk on Rennlist that the very early 964 Motronic boxes were slightly different to the later ones and did / didn't have the fuel quality adjustment screw. Otherwise a C2 ECU will run an RS and vice versa, though obviously with associated power increase / decrease, and the RS would be likely to stall a lot due to the lightweight flywheel using a C2 ECU.
