Hi there,
I'm doing some research into buying my first Porsche when I get back from working in Dubai. My budget is relatively low at 11-12K and I had been looking at either an immaculate SC or an early 3.2. However trawling though the classifieds reveals that early 964's are not that much more. 13-14K appears to buy a usable car in a private sale.
As the title of this thread suggests I'm looking to buy a car for use as everyday trandport. Is this realistic with a 964? My ideal machine would be a Carrera 2 coupe in silver with the 'must have' FSH and loads of bills to back this up. Obviously I'd be prepared to compromise on this spec but the car must be a Carrera 2 and it must be RHD.
I'm heard all about dual mass flywheels and leaky engines. Putting these well known issues to one side for a minute, what else should I be looking out for? I've heard that 964's had lots of complicated electronics and these can be very expensive to replace in they go wrong.
What about suspension? Are there any well known issues I should be aware of?
Any and all advice appreciated.
All the best.
Martin.
