Was looking around on ebay.de and ran across this larger intake snorkel made by a german company called ETG technik.
I think they are new on the market ,never seen it before.
Just thought you turbo guys might want to know about it .

I've seen them before, they have been around for a while.

But the price was silly, about £300 unless they have come down in price I don't see the point!

interesting.... not the snorkel, I mean the sensor fitted to the intake manifold, not seen that before, anyone know what it is, inlet temp sensor, flow rate or something else perhaps?

Pretty sure, if this really makes an impovement, someone can fab up something DIY just as well.

I met Rolf-Dieter Eichner, head of ETG, last Summer in Germany.

He is behind the 3.0 8V 944T I mentioned in other threads, which puts down 444bhp and 590N.m (435 ft.lbs).

He makes interesting KKK-based turbos using modern Borg Warner/KKK wheels, which apparently allow running reasonably less exhaust backpressure than KKK turbines of the old original style. For people who prefer to use bolt-on turbos they make sense. These are not ball bearing unit, and he seems to emphasize on turbo sizing by avoiding the use of ball bearing.

His Bosch MAP sensor connects to the plug for the standard AFM, and he will supply a DME chip in function of engine configuration. I think he has rewritten the DME code so that it will work with a MAP sensor.

As for that snorkel, I have not seen one up close but it looks like a nice piece. I would opine that a cone filter correctly located will perform better, at a better price.

This snorkel just highlights the impression I have that some of our Germans colleagues are obsessed with some specifications of the standard engine set up and will keep rehashing similar solutions over and over instead of opting right away more modern solutions.
