Unless you can assist the OP with any technical information or advice on the subject of Wheel Paintwork ?, would it be
fair to say your comments as a few others (Which are not Subject related) are Ruining the thread?

Yes the 924OC also has a Clicky few people who know everything, and how dare anyone question them etc..A few were very nice
but several others also posted nothing more much like you with no contribution but rude derogatory personally insulting comments.

You might call yourself the 944man, but you only seem to answer and pipe up when you want to have a crack at me and many others.

These threads and forums should be spent discussing the Subject, and not like several members are clearly not doing, but prefer to instigate a slanging match,

I don't like filling them up either with explanations to the unfair abuse I receive from a select few but I will not be subjected to these Bullies which are synonymously famous on car forums.

To be honest Roger I'd rather see more pictures of Daves coffee machine than read your ramblings.

The original question had IMO been answered within the first few posts and I hope the op has an idea which way to proceed with the finish on his wheels, as with most forums there will be more than one opinion but only one original factory finish.

Really ! answered in the first few posts ? Original Factory finish? the most abused saying ever....unless you go back to Stuggart!
The 3 material system is not an opinion but the fatual way it's done but your know this right as a "National champion"
Using a 2K @ 200 degrees is also not a done thing it's too hot, and My Ramblings as you put it are put into practice as a job , a successful one for your information where people travel for such expertise and don't get swung by the bull often read on forums!

Maybe as you suggest your a "Restoration Expert" you could suggest and inform us all on what process and colour is best used on the Op's Wheels ? Only I've not seen this on here yet from you or anyone else ?

I look forward to being Educated with your expertise.

I will just leave this here - wheel doesn't look machined, but its not mine and I don't know its history,

I've seen a failure like this - a friend's turbo at Elvington, probably about 10 years ago.
 
That might be where the picture came from originally. I do have a set on un-machined wheels that I ran slicks on for a while with no issues, I had polished one or 2 of them and they did come up very nicely, they don't fit over the big brakes on the coupe but maybe I should dig them out for the cab. It would be nice to see a set in the original anodised finish 'as new' but I am not sure it is £700 nice [:D].

Centre cap sitting proud like that usually means it's been machined.
 
The grooves look quite deep though unless they were machined too, usually the outers need more attention than the centres as that is where the dust ends up.
