944 Turbo on eBay seems wrong??

This car is on eBay at a low starting price, but no details about the car??

If it is a genuine sale and not a scam then someone could get themselves a bargain [:)]

Registration is very close to my car (J789 OVC) so must have come from Evans Halshaw in Little Aston

Surely if it was any good you would put a bit more effort into an advert. How people expect to sell cars at a decent price with zero effort makes no sense to me.

Does seem like a good one maybe as it was only just poseted by mobile they are going to add details later.

Would like to see more pictures especially the interior and engine bay.

Also details of service history, servicing etc.

Will be keeping an eye on this one [;)]

Zero feedback seller always sets alarm bells ringing.

Posted in 'vehicle parts' instead of 'cars for sale'

It jumped £900 since you posted the link so maybe you should have kept this one to yourself, does have original Evan Halshaw numberplates on.

I'll bid nearer the end ...[;)], thanks for the link [8D]

Cheers, Paul

White leather?

I am guessing that is a linen interior and if so then I suppose that the poster doesn't know too much about these cars, that can be good or bad, may just be someone trying to move something on. I guess that someone needs to go and see it.

Well its got plenty of road tax left

Vehicle enquiry

The vehicle details for J797 OVC are:

CO2 Emissions Not Available

Vehicle Status SORN Not Due
Vehicle Colour RED

Maybe I am the bidder [;)]

Asked the seller for more detailed pics and details of the service history

Reply I got was Full service history I bought it from Porsche garage 1 1/2 years ago

Not exactly what I was looking for!!

The low starting price is usually just a ploy to get exactly this sort of interest going ! its very common on e bay now. They do it as e bay let sellers welch on a sale by cancelling if they want to and let 'sellers' but not buyers break just about any rule or contract they want. All a seller has to do is bid it up himself because he knows that no reserve on e bay means absolutely nothing anymore.

As for the advert I agree it would make me suspicious, its either a duffer or a great car with a seller who is clueless how to sell a car. If its the latter of course it could be a bargain ( or not).

Only a visit to view by a club member is going to sort this one out. I remember me viewing one in Royston not so long ago for the same reason. It looked as good as that one in the ad and was a rot box I could not believe it was the same car, oh and the Zermatt one in the 'specialist' near Heathrow that I took the pictures of and posted was rotten too.

Best of luck

People are this lazy. As a matter of fact, on another forum I frequent some people hate comprehensive adverts, saying they prefer Autotrader-esque adverts like the 951 advert above.

IME a 99p NR listing on ebay with a set of decent pictures etc. will generally get a ballpark figure of what the market believes the car to be worth, or at least I have found that with cars I have sold on there.

FWIW, a chap I know sold a lovely 951 for £3.2k simply because he wanted shot of it (He had a back injury). Others on here probably know who I am talking about (He tried to sell his car on TIPEC and Retro Rides with limited success). It even had Sports Seats, Club Sport wheels etc. :(. Gutted was not the word.

As for it being a scam, I wouldn't part with the cash until seeing a few vital bits of paperwork, and the car itself!

ORIGINAL: Diver944

Up to £2500 now and still 9 days to go

Now at £3750 so going in th right direction [:)]

Still needs more details and pictures as it could end up as a non payer if you turn up and it's hanging out everywhere [:(]

Maybe that's the ploy, you can turn up to view and not pay if the condition isn't as advertised but given there isn't really any discussion about the condition you have to buy it. Simples!

Does anyone on here have the facility to HPI check this car for finance or more importantly insurance write off status?

This car is en-route to be well out of my budget, but thought that it could be cheap as it is a write off? Worth a check. Also, if its in hte hands of people who are not familar with these cars, budget for belts/rollers/waterpump within weeks of owning the car.

Looks like it could be a nice car for someone who knows thier 944t s.

Good luck all those going for it !

Coincidence, Im sure. Ive seen a contraction of my username when I was the winning bidder, viewed from someone elses account and it doesnt use the first and last letters of your name (although it may do occasionally). The feedback score is accurate, but the letters are random characters from your username as opposed to the actual first and last letters...
