Flywheel stud (for ref sensor) screw in with loctite 270 and adjust to 5+- 0.1mm

that means 5mm + - 0.1 does it not, or am I reading that wrong
it is in the section about installing it in the flywheel so screw it in until 4.9mm to 5.1mm is exposed. But do you then space the sensor 8mm from the flywheel giving 3mm clearance or 8mm from the the 5mm protruding grub screw? or is the ref sensor not adjustable anyway and setting the speed sensor 8mm sets the ref sensor?
Tony
sorry confused myself 0.8mm not 8mm! so grub screw clearance should be 0.8 for reference as well as 0.8 for speed?

In my case & I think the bracket casting is common part across the range, setting the reference sensor using the 0.8mm washer stuck to an old clean sensor allows you to correctly set the bracket using the holding screws to the correct position & lock it at that position.
You could also use a brand new sensor as long as the washer ( or suitable shim) is stuck on with a glue that's easily removed.
The speed sensor is then slid in in it's shield tube -this tube has a small flange that sits against the bracket -and this then sits at the correct position when locked in position.I didn't set it separately.

yes ...someone asked what the difference is between a crank speed sensor and a hall effect and I tried to explain , very poorly I'm afraid. Hazards of one finger typing on a tiny Kindle whilst watching TV lol.
Not had any feedback for a while but I did wonder if the 'missing reference screw' was in fact meant to be missing. Isn't there supposed to be only 3x ??

Just to say that I passed the car on to a new owner and that he managed to sort the issue, was poor wiring (touching) under the insulation on the crank and ref plug looms. Beyond my brains, and 3 other specialists / autoelectricians. Thanks all for assisting however.
