Doesn't surprise me - it looked very nice. I'm a bit partial to the early cars with Fuchs and I've come close to buying one for myself not that long ago as a "classic"

That Bentley will look cool when you get another red alloy on the back.

Thanks Paul!
Allways wanted a nice 86 turbo,so am coming around to the idea of keeping this one(possibly!!!!!!!).
Andrew.

I would say keep. 911's and 944's are very different cars. My own plan for a long long time has been to get a 993 targa and keep that car stock and near to perfect. Other cars from time to time have replaced the 993 targa idea but I always come back to wanting one. The plan was supposed to be that my S2 would become a track slag but I like it to much to strip, don't have the time to warrant a track day only car, and perversely the more money I get the less I want to spend it on the 944 which is good in that I don't worry about it so much and this means I like it even more.

I guess what I am trying to say is that you can't ever get the perfect car and life changes etc. the one true constant being that as compromised as a 944 might seem its hard to think of a better life companion type of car.

Ask yourself this, how many ppl do we all know of who have sold their turbo and then regretted it later? There is a couple of guys around who recently bought back into 944's again.

Not sure I am helping by saying this but I have two cars, and it only works because they are so different. Want to go to a nice pub in country for Sunday lunch and take the long way home? Go in the S2. Need to drive to an airport at 6.00am on a Monday morning in the rain? Take the 330i (in my case).

In your case you have what I would call two "event" cars, but you may have another mile muncher or equivalent? Having been in this situation before, albeit with hot hatches, I would say buy the 911 and run it along side the 944 and then see which one gets the most use.

If you can find a reason to drive them both during normal life then lucky you, but like I said, the only reason mine work is because one is fun on the weekends and track days and the other is the one for when I have had a long day at work and home is 100 miles away [:(]

What generation of 911 are you looking at?

As stated above the 911 is a very different drive to the 944, and probably anything else. Certainly not a relaxing mile-muncher, well not in the same way as a 944, and requires a lot more concentration. Don't ask me which I prefer, you may not like the answer[:D].

Thanks for the replys. The 911 has fallen through so will be keeping the 944.
Neil,i have owned 15 Porsches so i known the cars inside out, just was not sure if to keep the 944 as well as a 911.
Thanks,
Andrew

Sounds like I was teaching granny to suck eggs then! [:)]

I know what you mean though, I don't want to be without my 944.

I'm tempted to run my 944 through the winter for 6 months, and drive the Lotus (soft top) for 6 months during the summer. The idea being I can transfer te insurance over half way through, and obviously tax each one for 6 months at a time.
If it will actually work out this way I'll have to see.
Obviously the uninsured car will be in the garage. Fingers crossed I can keep both going all year round.
Could you do a similar thing?

Good luck with the sale - it looks like a nice example with some desirable mods. You may wish to update your car list ..... and remove "a keeper"! [:)]
