944 Turbo for sale - Needs a 15-20K Spend anyone?

Oof. That looks alright in the pictures until you start adding it up to do it properly. If you owned a bodyshop you’d be laughing.

Even with that it's still looks to be a semi can of worms!
Otherwise the people who are selling it and (They look like they are trade) would do it them selves but I'm guessing it's one of those situations that you tot it up "to do properly"
and then think!!!....... Gulp ! I think we'll move it on for someone else to dabble with!

Looks like they either already had a dabble in restoring it and found something too costly to put right or were using it as a parts car as there appears to be different bits missing including the rear diffuser.
 
Best year and rare as advertised... best colour too, what could go wrong? those wheels would have to go though..:) Seriously though, if someone has the time and equipment, they could get/make themselves a nice car. To do a full restoration I don't think that £20k would cover it? If there is no rear diffuser with it as it seems in the pictures well that's probably £2k just there?

Sure you could have a nice car for 30K but is this really worth doing?

Who are you buying your parts from Pete? £2k for a rear diffuser? Get a decent used one for £250

Even from the 70's the 24 was Hot Dipped with Zinc to form a build up of zinc oxide protection to fill the hole should the body be penetrated,
I doubt any of the 44's were any different or the earlier or late cars.
A lot depends of how the car has been looked after or not, and the worst thing is often the location.

I've seen some great condition car's 40 year old, but then others only 25 years but rotten from living near the sea!

944 Turbos and all transaxles are great and I enjoyed every minute of my ownership, but wouldn’t go near that with a bargepole [&:]
 
Could be a can of worms, but maybe not ? The rust shown is easily repairable, it would need a good looking at around the rear subframe mounts.
A good project for someone who has a decent workshop and welding skills, interior parts ln red will be a nightmare to source.
I had an 86 and it was absolutely solid, that said it had never Seen winter use for years, winter use kills these cars if not cleaned properly on a regular basis.
Mine is tucked away at the moment ??

Hours and hours of someones time, for free? You've been watching too much Wheeler dealers and Car SOS. I've got City and Guilds certificates from an apprenticeship in fabrication and welding. And I wouldn't have touched that POS.
 
Sideways Bens original 944T had a can can red interior, I wonder if that is the same one? It's last mot pass was in 2010 and it had a massive list of failures in 2008, I dread to think the state it will be in now. A lot of people do have a lot of time on their hands just now though

Wasn't that car black though? (And ended up Mark Daltons with a 3.2)
 
My brother's first 944 T was an I think an 87 and had the Can Can red interior with I think was yellow piping on seats ( may have been white? ).....Anyway...A real looker with the Guards red paint and red interior.
