944 S2 with M030 Brakes ?

I recently purchased my S2 and I am checking the front brakes over . I believe these to be bigger than normal ? Looking at the pictures , are they M030 front Brake Calliper's and disc ? The Disc look like they need replacing and there is a massive difference in price on different disc.
I found some 928 Front vented disc at a great price and all measurements seem to be correct .
Is the 928 stud pattern the same as the 944 ? Has anyone ever fitted 928 disc to a 944 ?

928S4 / 944 M030 caliper are mounted radially. 951/S2 calipers are mounted axially. So: the bolts on standard S2 calipers go through the front of the caliper in towards the centre of the car.

So are these M030 Calipers ? They have two big Allen key bolts holding them to the hub .

The disc thickness is about 32mm and I would sat the diameter of the disc is around 304ish MM

The caliper is about 10-11inch long and about 6inch wide ?

I have found two disc for sale , one at £94 each and the 928 ones at £59 each nearly half price .
928 disc info : Thickness 32mm Diameter 304mm Hole arrangement 05/09

Is the 928 stud pattern the same as the 944 ?

Certainly look like M030 and M030 Discs are 928 items, possibly S4,check PET online for comparative part numbers.

I cant see the pictures at the moment, but about £60 delivered for a Pagid 32mm 928S4 disc is about right.

They look like m030 calipers to me, Porsche disks will be expensive, sebro's a more afforable alternative....

I found the brake disc for as little as £44 a disc delivered , great .

I am not going to track the S2 and for just pottering about they should do .

Are the hubs M030 then ?Or do these Calipers fit the S2 standard hubs ?

Do you know if the brake pads are the same ? Or Are the M030 brake pads bigger ?

If I replace the brake disc I will fit new pads as well.

Thanks for all your replies .

They should be m030 hubs. Calipers fit standard S2 with adapter.

Brake pads are bigger, same as later turbo, m030 968 and 928 S4. *front pads only*

It's a good find - I think 030 hubs, calipers etc.. are worth a bit. Have you checked the boot sticker to see what other options were fitted? If you got really lucky you may have 220 LSD as well

There are no adapters , the calipers are bolted directly to the hubs . On the boot stickers it says 210 SD ? or EG ?
The previous owner was going to make it a track day car and he said that both front struts have been upgraded to M030 ?
The bottom of the front shocks have some numbers 951.343.032.12 VS 10 Not sure if anyone can decode the part number ?
The front shocks and springs do not give , they are solid .
I think these big calipers will look good in the classic red , they are huge .

Thanks Edd & Thanks edh for your replies.

Edd any joy with your 944 ? Has it gone yet ? What car you getting next ? Or are you settling a gambling debt ;)

I purchased some M030 front struts for my 944 Turbo that I used to own some years back , they were coil overs yellow struts and had adjusters on the top of the shock .
So when the previous owner said they were M030, I looked through the wheels and seen normal black struts and assumed they were standard and he was just saying they were M030 .

So the front struts could have Koni inserts inside them ? And the springs are stiffer ?

The rear shocks on my S2 are Koni Adjustable fitted 2008 and I have invoices amongst all the services history stuff.

This S2 handles like it is on rails , corners really well .

As Simon suggested, if the struts are from a late turbo, they will have m030 calipers/hubs but not the adjustable suspension.

Getting back to the disk fittment..
YES the 928S4 disc will fit.
Its the same as the M030 disc apart from its not drilled as the M030 one are....
The pads are bigger than the standard S2 ones aswell, ie the 928S4 ones will fit....

These are definitely M030. The give away is the shape of the ventilation holes in the discs.

I'd suggest you get a PDF copy of PET - a great help to cross reference parts and see how things all fit together

That front strut was used on the late turbo, also on a couple of S2 options (m757 celebration and m031 sports suspension). Standard Sachs struts - no Koni inserts or adjustabilty.

Bert lists the same disc for 928S4 and late turbo
