Has anyone seen the S2 SE on ebay ?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1991-PORSCHE-944-S2-SE-Special-Edition/161093949658?_trksid=p2047675.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D11%26meid%3D895675389286651656%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D1005%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D300942963193%26

Is this a genuine 944 ? is it as rare as stated ?

Looks well .

Yes, but it was a PCGB sell through special edition, designed to ensure that the last UK cars were registered before the 968s landed.

The binnacle should feature an 'Unleaded Fuel Only' warning, shouldn't it?

Looks genuine and yes.

I have driven a white one before and have come across a couple of black ones too. Side decals are missing.

I do believe they did an S2 se . It was a run out model and had a power chip fitted along with a few other tasty bits possibly even M030 suspension and brakes, However they never had the hideous home made badge on the back. The only way to tell if it is an SE is to check the chassis no against the Porsche data base.ca Even than I have a funny feeling it was a model that was cobbles together by Porsche GB and not an official factory model.

I'm sure someone will be along in a mo who will know more about it though................................

The SE had an SE badge down the side of the doors. Not sure if it had a rear SE badge or not. Looks tidy at a quick glance - rest of the spec looks pukka! Not sure if only 15 made or not. It was the run out model of the S2 for UK only in '91

The 3 separate cars I have seen all had SE badges with SE side decals.

Literature (if accurate) consistently references a total of 15 SE models.

The one I drove had M030 suspension and ARBs and was chipped with a cs steering wheels, SE badge and decals plus a colour coded spoiler.

I nearly bought a black one about 10 years ago, grey interior, it was rough then, had the side stripes .....and a pair of mole grips hanging in the footwell as the bonnet pull !!

I have a feeling that other countries did the same as Porsche GB as I have an advertisement somewhere for a Porsche 944S2 Ohio, it's in Belgium text and lists upgraded suspension etc, I'll try and find it to show on here.

Cheers, Paul

I'd been watching that, no idea why but its a past time of mine to watch cars on ebay even though if I did actually buy one I'd be talking a couple of octave higher than I do now. Anyway I found some articles which mentioned that these 15 cars were done by Porsche in Reading as specials so they were all out the door before the 968 arrived. The E on the SE looks like someone took a bandsaw to the 9 and then inverted it. I'll see if I can dig out the articles.

944S2 OHIO, anyone care to translate ?

The single page A5 leaflet is genuine Porsche, spec on reverse of what I believe is a generic factory S2 photograph, dated 1990

It appears to mean ...

Sport Chassis
Limited slip diff 40%
Sports Seats
Partial leather seats
Air Con
Toronto Radio

Why name a 944 S2 "OHIO" Shocking !

That would be like Ford naming a Mustang GT "Frankfurter"

I much prefer the UK's SE name tag .

Each country must have done a run off edition , these would be very collectable as they are the last ones ?

Let's see how much the 944 S2 SE sells for on flea Bay ?

mmm it didnt sell reserve not met ? I wonder what his reserve was ? and were these cars different because they were built at the later factory? zuf(something or other)
