So, had this happen to me twice now, any clues as to what it is??
car starts normally, and runs/pulls fine. after driving swiftly, right round a small roundabout at ~20mph, with my foot planted at the end, the car loses all power, and remains that way until (I think) hard braking.
The 'loss of power' is wierd. The car just seems to have no go in any gear, and some of the time is very hesitenty - as if its only firing on 3 pots (although stopping the car and revving it, it sounds fine - just when going along its lacking power). It has about enough power to get to/hold 50mph, but won't go any quicker.
When the situation resolves itself its absolutely fine.
This has happened twice, on cool (but not cold), damp mornings. I thought it could be HT leads, so gave them a quick check and sprayed some wd40 over them but to no avail. I think if it was ht leads the problem wouldn't come/go so quickly (it really is absolutely fine.. 30% power.. absolutely fine). I also think that if it was just missing on one pot, The car would have more power (I had a spark plug blow up on an old volvo years ago, and that would still comfortably hold 70mph all the way home (but drank a lot of fuel in doing so).
second thought is it could be something near a fuel line that the left-hand g-forces are blocking, and the hard braking is unblocking?? but I don't know what it might be
final thought is there could be something that's just lose. I thought about a bad earthshort but all the gauges look fine for the duration - I think if something was shorting the dash would also lose power??
any tips gladly appreciated
