Hi, has anybody had any experience of the ignition key sticking in the on position? And if so how did they sort it? Thanks, Andrew.

New switch part of the ignition lock required I would think

If you do need a new switch, 964 613 012 00 £127.00 when playing up all sorts of strange electrical things happen.

A lock barrel with stipulated lock number, to match the car 944 538 075 01 £151.00, I would get a new key from Porsche cut to number, not a copy of your worn one

Usually lock cylinder sticking occurs going into or out of the lock position and occurs when the steering wheel locking mechanism is not freely moving. In this case turning the steering wheel slightly one way or another will release the tension and allow the lock to align (release) and the key cylinder will work again. Never heard of a cylinder sticking in the ON (run) position. I'd start with WD-40 or a good aerosol lock lubricant and spray away while wiggling the key as much as possible - both back and forth and in and out - just wiggle to "end of travel" - too much force will break the key which is another trouble you don't want. If you are truly in the ON position you are only fighting the ignition cylinder itself - not the mechanical steering wheel lock so a good lubrication should free it up. It sounds like your key may be well worn and time for a new one. When you get a new one cut - make sure it works in ALL the locks (ignition, both doors and rear hatch) - I've had a new key that didn't and required some "trimming" to work in all locks.
