944 Rear Wiper Arm

Folks

Replacing wipers and noticed that the rear arm has a pin/spindle fitment for the blade whilst the fronts are the hook design which I am familier with, is this normal ? I wish to obtain a 'hooked' item for the rear and also noted that the mounting spindle is of a smaller diameter compared to more modern vehicles.

If this is a stupid question I apologise, any advice/ideas.

Many Thanks

Andy

924s and 944s built up until 1988 had the larger diameter shaft and a wiper of the type that you have described. 1989 onwards 944s and 968s have a smaller shaft and a conventional wiper, which is FAR less of a pain in the arse.

My 89 2.7 has the pin type with the smaller diameter arm spindle and I was wondering if I could replace it with an arm with a dog leg to move the wiper over to the right a bit, e.g. a 1998 Fiesta, but, as you say, more modern arms have a larger diameter spindle (8mm instead of 6mm I think).
BTW the small plastic cover at the bottom of the rear wiper (early type) is NLA, but you can use one off a Puma or Mk1 Focus instead.
