944 on Top Gear Again

I see in my new Top Gear Magazine that TG is returning to our tellybox on Sunday night (Yipeee!)
One of the Challenges is to buy a RWD sports Car for £1500 and drive it to teh Alps to go Ice racing...One of the dynamic trio buys a 944, the others buy a Nissan 300ZX and a Ford Capri!

Now My Wife and I can't agree who would buy which car?

James has form with the 944, but I can't help thinking that he would go for the Capri....

Of course Clarkson loves the 944, I finally got around to watching some of his latest DVD last week and he was hugely enthusiastic over a Red 951! (But then strapped rockets to the side....)
Here is the very piece:

So I think it must be Hammond, Clarkson has to be the one in the 300ZX...surely?

Lastly the chaps race a letter from the Scillys to the Orkneys in a........Panamera!

Hmm, I think Hammond will have the 300zx, James the Capri and Clarkson will have the 944. I'll be at Silverstone so I'll miss it :( BBC Iplayer will be my friend!

If the BL cars are anything to go by I wouldn't hold your hopes up, but hey still a fine watch.

And my money's on Clarkson having the 944 or Capri. It's the 951 that Clarkson really likes in addition to the Porsche 928. The 968 he thought was ok when he compared it to a Jaguar XJR-s.

I've been thinking about this all afternoon and i reckon Jezza's got the 300zx for sure cos it's the most powerful and he's had jap motors before remembering back to the grasstracking challenge, he'll modify it by putting a bigger blower on it as he did to the widebody Starion in said challenge. The other two are tough to predict but i think Hammond will go for the Capri cos it's a cheap safe bet [2.0 Laser methinks] which leaves May, who seems to value comfort, with the 944.

It could easily go the other way mind cos Hammond likes his Porsches.

Can make a case for any of them having chosen any of the cars but am going for Jezza with the 300ZX Jap cr*p, Hammond with the Capri ( he seems to like '70's cars, think he has a Firenza) and Captain Slow with the only proper car there [;)]

Hmm then again Jezza is a big fan of '44's (at least ones with turbos bolted on, and quite right too)...

Can't see either of the others with the 300ZX though.

None of this is good as it suggest 944's are only good for 'comedy' TV segments and are worth no more than £1500 - did anyone watch the price of used meraks/urracco's/944/928 /dino's plummet after TG's belittleling episodes.[:'(]

Perversely , still love the show.

Is the '44 and the Panamera featured this Sunday? Any Panamera in the OPCs yet? I'd like to see one in the flesh

Lawsi - I agree but who cares what the general public think? [:D]

Did values plummet after the TG episode with the 924/944/928 ? Can't recall that happening myself, any dipping in prices prolly more to do with the influx of cheap and overly plentiful Boxsters onto the market followed by various credits being crunched (ouch) [:'(]

The original DVD is now to be found for sale in Tesco for £3. I have bought a copy, as I said that I would before Christmas (I'll buy a copy when its in the £3 bin in supermarkets next Spring...)... [:D]

'tis the London-Edinburgh Race tonight; Jezza on Tornado, the steam engine, Hammond on a Vincent Motorbike and May in a Jaguar XK120

Alex.
Its actually repeated later in the week. Friday i think....

Whichever eposide it is that Sunday nights sorted for a while, just for the fun my money is on Hammond - Capri (even though he is a huge Porsche fan), Clarkson - 300ZX ( he always goes for what he thinks will win), May -944 (he does have form after the last time, and I think he still owns a 911 whaletail)

No not this week, still looking forward to watching new TG though, must have seen every other episode at 10 times each on Dave since the last series ended[:D]
