944 November get together

ORIGINAL: andy watson
We are going to find it hard to top this outing!

It worked out really well. We had a fortuitous combination of good planning and a bit of good luck. Everyone met up on time, the schedule worked out and the weather was absolutely perfect (I've been colder at Snetterton in mid-summer). "the photo" came off just about perfectly - it was giving me nightmares right up until about a mile and a half out. I knew Richard would do his part but could we get everything lined up in time? We managed to sweet-talk the marshal into parking us in an ideal location. The Snetterton event was good and the food was good. The drive over to the pub was entertaining with some interesting roads including a section which seemed specifically designed to test your shock-absorbers - I am glad I had the front-end sorted out before the weekend, otherwise I might have bounced off into a ditch!

What went wrong? Well obviously a couple of the gang couldn't make it through mechanical and other issues although happily Simon got to the pub for dinner and looking at the photos we seem to have managed to lose Andre for the group shots. How did that happen?

Puzzled me as well. I kept looking at the photos, 11 cars on the road then 10 in the display. [&:]
Then I checked the colours a few times and it eventually became clear. [:)] (Andre went for cash apparently.)
Friends/family very impressed with the photos and Porsche in Germany might even be interested in the road shot [8|]
I just keep thinking about the beef!

Have the three cars behind the 944's been photoshopped out in pic #2?

I've looked really close on super zoom and can't see the join yet they are definitely there in pics 1 and 3 - clever stuff

Yup. Photoshop at work [:D] Again, credit to Richard for his image-manipulation skills!

Yes, it is a real shame Andre is missing from the photo's.
Another photoshop maybe???

Alas no. To add someone we'd need to have a photo of them in about the same light and at the same scale which we don't have. We can't create Andre from scratch. Getting rid of something is much easier than adding something in.

Here's a later version of the bridge shot which has the cars a little more spread out. I'm not quite so keen on the background in this one compared to the first.

However, you can see more of a couple of the cars and Andre doesn't have his wipers going in this one.

I like it [:)]

Agree the background is not quite so pleasing but I prefer the angle of the cars and I can see me now[:D]

You got anymore hiding there?

"Pointing out the finer details of a classic Porsche" - what an astute and perceptive journalist! [:)]

Well, in a meeting of the organisers which lasted late into last night, we questioned whether we should hold a Charity Race Experience in 2013....................we voted unanimously that we have created a monster and that we had to bring the event back to Snetterton next year........................Hurrah !!!!!!

Watch this space for dates and more info...

Anyone up for a re-run in 12 months time?

Definitely Glenn! That looked a terrific day out you and Andy organised and i'm so gutted that i had to bail. Jon Mitchell still has my car, bless him! Still, i know he is a thorough engineer and i think i prefer him that way![;)][8D][:D]

Don't! Richard was musing on "photographing the entire club" the other day until I pointed out just how many cars PCGB and TIPEC combined would muster. [:D]
