Evening all, just purchased my 1st Porsche which happens to be an 85 944. It's my 37th birthday and I just needed something to take up my time.

Bought it as I get bored over the winter months and require something fiddley to do. In fairness I only paid just over £300 for it due to owners description of the vehicle, but after viewing the car it was loads better than I imagined. Car has been standing since 2006 after having cut out problems. Now I'm no Porsche expert, but am aware of a DME Fuel pump relay problem with the 2.5 model. Cars electric wiring system was described as spaghetti junction. Only thing I could see was the fuse box had been undone and left hanging down (Intact)???? I'll get some photos up tomorrow "hopefully" as i'm picking it up from london tomorrow and bringing it home to South Wales with the intention of keeping this great car on the road. Only strange senario I can see on the car is it seems to have the S2 turbo wings????? and side skirts. Bonnet will also need replacing as theres a kink in it.

Anyone know if cracks in the dash can be repaired??? or will I need to get it covered as the interior will be undergoing a complete revamp anyway.

Congratulations on your purchase, and welcome to the forum! Sounds like you may have got a bit of a bargain there. I'm not sure if the wings are any different between the 2.5 and the turbo, but side skirts are a common modification. I'd strongly suggest you have a look underneath them to check the condition of the sills. As far as i'm aware, you can't easilly repair the dash, but you can buy covers that improve the appearance. Also, make sure you get the timing and cam belts changed! I'm looking forward to seeing photos[:)]
 
Turbo/S2 wings are different from the Lux models, sounds like a nice little project there...............enjoy it will keep you busy but make you smile when it is going well.....promise !
 
'85 can be square or oval! S2 Turbo wings have the little angle at the front - you can see it in my pic...Robs avatar[:D]
 
Ah Mike you are correct being a newbie I will forgive him for not stating 85.5 or 85 and kick myself in the arse. And yes I did steal your pic from Rutland for my avatar it was very good and summed my car up in one pic I think. Good work fella [;)]
 
Was there a guy on here before with a car that hadn't run for a while with the S2 front? did some work and then was selling it as didn't have time to complete? A search may bring up some info - welcome by the way!

Thanks for the welcome all. Definately not them. It has been standing since 2006, but I would say its an '85 as it has the square dash. Was supposed to go and collect it today, but the bearings have gone in the trailer I hired for the day. Grrrrr...... Gutted, but these things happen. I'm sure the car will frustrate me more than this little incident. Thanks Andy
 
Porsche model years start the previous August, so the Oval dash started productuon in Aug 85 but are 86 models. The square 3 hole dashs stopped in July 85. Then we start on the suspension.........
