i have an 86 lux 2.5 oval dash that i picked up as a little project/daily driver. i had it on the ramp today and had a little look over it and what it might need.

power steering pipe, pump-rack
steering uj
driver door handle
seals that go around the window glass at the front
driver door
centre console hinge/unit in beige
badge panel

thats about it really.
let me know what you have.

thanks
nick

thanks for the offers guys, the plan may have changed as took the silly fibreglass sill covers off and found some pretty terrible rust im afraid!
amazing to think with these covers on i could have got an mot on the car! when literally 5 mins with a hammer has revealed the whole outer sill turning to dust, and the inner in a very similar state, spreading into the transaxle mounts! not very safe!!

thanks

Sorry to hear this Nick [&o]

It's one of the reasons we always advise people to avoid cars with those sill covers. There is normally only one reason they are fitted (and its not that they look good)

i bought the car for next to nothing as a car without mot/tax and expected it to have issues/rust. the parts on the car far outweigh what i paid for it. if it were a car with more value such as an s2/turbo i would just spend 2 days doing the repair, but with a lux thats worth £1500-2k its just not worth it.

as long as you pay the right money its not an issue, in fact cars with rust are a mega bargain if you want to part it up, or use the car as a donor, as the value is affected so massively you end up paying not a lot for the car. i bought my s2 for £1k with rust and got that back for the interior alone!
