930 Clutch and LSD

Can anybody recommend a suitable Clutch assembly and LSD for my 930 Kremer (380BHP at min boost).
Mostly road use with occasional track / hill climb

Thanks in advance

Hi & sorry for this latent reply on this;

For the clutch, if it is mainly for road use then stick with an "organic" center plate ( like any traditional road car would use ), this is against a Sintered or "paddle" type as these will be to harsh and likely judder and stall on occasions, not to mention the short life they incur.

In this instance, I would recommend 2 options;

1, The standard Porsche Oem items will be perfectly adequate for all 930 based cars upto 500bhp

2, For cars with in excess of 500bhp and / or for competition use then it is recommended you use the Sachs Performance program option. ( cover plate and Organic center plate )

For the Clutch release bearing, the Oe unit 93011608111 will be fine.

Given the minimum cost incurred, I would recommend using a new Oem Guide sleeve, clutch fork & Omega spring during fitting because they can fatigue & brake & its a box out job if any of these fail!

Guide sleeve Pn. 93011681300

Clutch fork Pn. 93011671202

Omega Spring Pn. 93011606411

Of course there are other after-market clutch's out there on the market & who can often claim in excess of 1,000hp but the choice would be yours & I would always use the preferred Porsche vendor on this type of application where available, as you will likely find Kremer will have done so in the past from my experience.

LSD

For the LSD, again I'd stick with the Porsche plated item; Pn. 93033205303, this is set at 40% slip but can be adjusted finitely & infinitely, the other recommended option would be the Quaife geared type Diff, these are much harsher & ideally better suited to track based work. There are other lesser known manufacturers of Bias type diff's but again I'd always go the proven route unless you are really looking for something special like a launch control or a mid speed mid corner controller as used in front drive rally applications for instance.

Bellow is Sachs own take on things;

Sachs Performance product Information;

Sintered "Paddle Type" Drive Plate

Typically used in motorsport applications or in more extreme road car power upgrades. Sintered drive plates, when used in conjunction with a Sachs Performance clutch cover, can handle the highest amounts of torque.

Organic Drive Plate

Typically used in chip-tuned / re-mapped road cars. When fitted with a Sachs Performance clutch cover, they can handle a substantial increase in torque compared to standard OE clutches.

PERFORMANCE CLUTCH COVER PLATES
Sachs Performance Clutch Cover Plates are designed for use together with our Performance Clutch Drive Plates to produce an extremely strong clutch capable of handling the up-rated power outputs produced by tuned and re-mapped cars. For maximum torque handling be certain to fit both an up-rated Performance drive plate and cover plate.

Hope this helps

Regards

Ian.
