924 Gearbox brace

I'm interested in the alloy arm that mounts between the passenger side of some 924 gear boxes, and the shell. I think it may have been used to support the exhaust?

You’re not!

I took one to the tip after buying it for the same reason you’re looking for one and then realising it doesn’t fit as the exhaust is in the way.

Thanks for the tip. I think Simon has fitted one on his hill climber, but I guess it is 924/4 hybrid. And he could've had an exhaust made to fit around it.

You mean this part that bolts to the back of the gearbox then supports the exhaust?

That's the part I had in mind, but not to support the exhaust. Do you have a pic of how it mounts to the shell?

Here's a pic under the rear of my 944, is my non standard exhaust in the way of the bracket. I guess the heat shield would need some modification.

Looking at your photo I don't think the alloy bracket will work.

Where it bolts to the side of the transmission and reaches across to support the rear box it looks like yours is still just the pipe at that point? I suspect if its modified to support the exhaust pipe the back box is going to be hanging on its own putting pressure on the joints.

Thanks for the input. The plan would have been only to brace the gearbox, the exhaust doesn't need any support.

Thanks for the link. I was under the mistaken impression, that the opposite end mounted to the shell though. How far away from the shell is the end of the brace?
