wow -those replicas looks awesome.  I wonder how much one of those beauties will set you back?

About £80k with a flat-6 engine, and not including shipping and UK duties last time I looked.

About £80k basic with a flat-6 engine, and not including shipping and UK duties last time I looked.

Or this one here with lots of goodies for US$175,000! http://www.werkzcars.com/917forsale.html

Actually, when you think what £80k would buy, then it doesnt sound to bad. Shame I dont have £80k though [:(]

Me too because I would definitely have one if I had ther budget! It would have to have 600+ bhp just like the original, even if it needed a supercharged 3.8 to acheive that power, and it would be in the Martini livery of the '71 Le Mans winner (complete with the vertical stabiliser fins).

Even now though I'm still in awe of the 917LH's (Langheck = Long tail) that acheived 246MPH along the Mulsanne in 1971! Which was only beaten 17 years later by the 'Project 400' WM Peugeot, a one lap wonder that had its radiators, door shuts and any other gaps taped up so it could acheive 251MPH (403KPH) before returning to the pits with steam coming out of every orifice.
