912 Silencer

Just happend across your post by chance. (Had a 912 in the 1970's, after a 356SC and loved it). May I suggest a possibility to you. Take off your rotten silencer and send it to JP Exhausts in Macclesfield to copy in stainless.
I had the same problem with my 1975 3.0 Turbo, with no replacements available.
JP copied it expertly at very reasonable cost. The trade use them extensively and then double the cost to the end customer. I have used them several times since and always pleased. They may already have the pattern and not need your old one.
