Hi. I need a new starter motor for my 911sc. Can anybody recommend a supplier and a part number? The one i removed is only 4 years old and an exchange unit of inferior quality i suspect. don't want another like this.

‘Type 911‘ in Beckenham, Kent should be your first point of call (0208 402 8424 )

Hi Rich. Thanks for that. i have changed the unit behind the ignition key. the after market unit i bought from Design 911 does not feel good when turning the key but i am going to persevere with it. have you had issues with these switches? anyway i have bench tested the starter motor and all i get is a clunk and no movement.

I fitted the same starter motor from Cambridge Motorsport in 2009 and it’s been good as gold. It spins a bit faster than the standard unit so makes a pleasant sound when starting. The guys at RPM were well impressed with it too. It’s also lighter than the standard.

Yes I have had problems with these ignition switches when my 911's have completed more than 100K miles.
Had to change it on my bothers 911 1977 C3, my 1973 911E, my Sc and my 930 turbo 120K miles.
Thanks for the comment Chris. I have these starter motors fitted to all these 911's,
Rich
