911SC Gear Lever Assembly

Should the gear lever on a 911SC self centre to the 3rd/4th gear plane from either side? My gear lever centres Ok from the 5th / R side but does not do so from the 1st / 2nd side. Is this correct?

I have bought new bushes for the entire external selectors and would like clarification about the above before I start as I probably need more parts.
