911 V 944S2

What I can say though is that there are some huge common myths about both cars. My race car for example has vastly more feel and feedback than any modern car I have been in, having been on track with 911s a well setup one also has vastly more grip and handling than many would like to admit to and if anything there better in the wet due to the superb traction.

Neil, I can understand your comments and they make good sense, - lets face it, the transaxle design was Porsche's attempt to make a better car, and measured in crosswinds, standing water, unexpected direction changes on a blind bend, to name a few situations, they succeeded, but the 911 is a triumph of development over design[:)]

In rallying however, like racing, maybe more than circuit racing? the 911's shortcomings are actually an advantage in the right hands. Turn-in, traction off the line, weight transfer on & off the power all lead to Pauls conclusion of "the air-cooled era 911"
