911 Speedster Project

Well even though the new 'Fuchs' style for the Sprt Classic looks the absolute business, I can confirm (thanks to Simon @ Porschapart) that a 11J x 19" rim with a 305/30 tyre does NOT fit under the rear arch on widebody 993 []
I suppose that I have now just saved myself a whole load of dosh by this discovery!
We'll just have to see what else turns up in the near future!
Graham

Personally, I would stick on a set of deep dished polished stainless steel rimmed alloys... I would leave the centres "silver" for that exaggerated colour contrast...

They are nice wheels for the money at ÂŁ800 for a new set (without tyres). I think 9m might have a set sitting around from the white 9m64RS?! I have heard that Veloce are about to bring out a 993 RS style 18'' 1 piece wheel which would look fantastic with grey centers and polished rims? [;)]

I'm going to try another 19" wheel with a slightly smaller width tyre (295 instead of the 305) and if it'll fit - then I'll bite the bullet and order the new Sport Classic wheel - it just looks sooooooooooo good!
There's nothing else (well maybe the GT3 RS wheel - polished rim with black centre) that looks as nice.
The whole project is held up now waiting for the KW suspension kit to arrive - otherwise it's 99% complete.
Graham

NO - STILL WAITING[]
The car is so so nearly complete, with just the seats to bolt in, and then a dose of Armourfend or similar to help combat reduce the stonechips. And sort out the wheels - which are still, I kid you not, causing me sleepness nights!

All I can say Graham is WOW. Colin and the boys in 9M have truely shone above alot of specialists out there if not even Porsche themselves, pushing the boundaries of such a beautiful project.

These few months I have heard nothing but this unique speedster from guys such as Andy (Snappy) and Neal another painter down the road involved with the Speedster project.

It is only now that ive seen on Rennlist and this thread. An absolutely stunner, and fresh too to see a brand new 993 oneoff come out of the North West, id say the car was built if not better than the Porsche factory!

The finishing touches would be the topping of the cake, a nice set of wheels to finish her off. A split rim 3 piece with a nice dish on the rear like a Speedline would be nice.

Dont you dare opt for these AP design 1 piece on a quality masterpiece of a car you have! I dont think they suit it.

Hope this info helps;-)

I cant wait to see this car, can I come and see her?

Well done!

Norm

Wheels, wheels, wheels!
Thanks Norm for the appreciative comments - but these wheels, they're doing my nut at the moment!
I did speak with Adrian (the 964 RS wheel man) at Oulton earlier this month, and love the RS Speedline - but would need the deep dish rear's to suit the widebody - like so - but someones been there already!

993SilverFrisenger.jpg

Subsequently I've talked myself away from split rims as they're a pain to keep all the nuts and fasteners clean and shiney - too fussy!
Same with the BBS LeMans & Cargraphic Race type wheel and derivatives there of - too 'spokey' & fussy.

It really has to be a stylish Porsche OEM wheel I feel - the vast majority of the car has been built with genuine Porsche parts so I'm trying to find an 'in-house' wheel. Plus don't want to do 'what's been done before'
Speedster-SilverYellow3.jpg

Once the suspension is dropped, and the wheels painted either all silver or 'titanium' centres, it might just look sweet enough, but I have tried on some Porsche 19" rims (borrowed from Porschapart) which really 'float my boat'!
All will soon be revealed!
I have discussed with the guys from 9M having a 'launch' party later this month - but the car will be on display at the Gawsworth Hall Classic & Sports Car show on the May Bank Holiday Monday - plus Barry has asked me to do a talk at the Deanwater Region 5 meeting on Wednesday 12 May.

Andy has done a cracking job on the leather work - in fact the whole team at 9M have done a great job and been ever so enthusastic about the project since day one! Just need to get it on the road now whilst the sun shines! And hopefully the best Summer for years!

Graham

"Just need to get it on the road now whilst the sun shines! And hopefully the best Summer for years!"
Graham

With that beauty it will be the best summer EVER! even if we only get a handful of decent weekends [8D] Pride of ownership of such a magnificent and unique 911 would be all the sun shine I would ever need [;)]

The project is very nearly complete! Just some titivation and the 993 Speedster will be launched onto the roads on the 1st May!
To mark this occasion, 9M are hosting an Open Day (or more correctly - 1/2 day), and it gives me great pleasure to invite 'all and sundry' to Ninemeister at Warrington on the 1st May - 10.00am til 2.00pm.

This is primarily for the launch of my 993 Speedster - but there will be other exciting and enticing metal also on display!

Graham

Hi Graham
Would love to be there to see the launch - but I wll hopefully be waking up in the Alexander in Cheadle on that Saturday !
Best of luck with the new car.

Same again, would have love to come down to have a look, as I am only round the corner. Will be away from the Bank holiday weekend of the end of April at the Nurburg.

Invite me and a few more Porsche guys round when I get back would be cool, a few more teas and a the chocolate bics. and we can disguss more on what to do next! next wheel options;-)

Anyway, have a fab day.

Norm

Graham, there's a load of us at Oulton Park on a trackday on Wednesday 2nd June. If you're free and it's sunny how about popping down so that we can have a drool over it at lunchtime? [:)]

Well after 7 months - my 993 Speedster has arrived home. The only RHD 993 Speedster in existance?
