911 sc targa

Hi,
I usually post on the 924 forum however its now for sale and looking at a 86 911 targa with 76k on the clock. Is there anything I should be looking at before I buy?.
 
If it's an '86 it will be a red braces job, so you should be looking at posting in the 3.2 Carrera section for a start Layshaft! [8D]

Only kidding, you know we all want you to buy a nice 911. (Had written something here about all good boys deserving a proper car but deleted it [;)])

That car is quite like the wonderful SC (apart from a bit heavier/slower lol). Have you got yourself a copy of Peter Morgan's Buyers' Guide for the 3.2's? It is excellent and only about £9. Buy another few bits with it on Amazon, get your total order up to £19 or more and the postage is free.

As John said its a a 3.2 carrera a bit on the bullet proof but get it checked out before you buy dependining lcoation you may find some one one the register will have a look for your you

Layshaft
From experience check the B posts try and look from inside the wheel arch there is a great dirt trap in there. Check the targa roof for signs of leaking. Also I would say check the condition of the exhaust / heat excvhangers. Also the engine for oil leaks.
If all OK go for it they are a great car.

Thanks for the info, I did buy a "buyers guide" for £16 but it was American and not very informative. Which is the best buyers guide to get from Peter Morgan, the Carrera 3.2 or the 911sc as I am looking at both ?.
 
If you are looking at an '86 Targa then get the Carrera book, the SC info is more or less the same in any case. Well worth the money even if you never buy the car, lots of important info in there.
